Nail biting weekend with the Hawks

GO HAWKS!!!!

The game is not quite over - but I am just too nervous to watch, hoping I have nails left after the game is over.

I did manage to get some work for my Etsy shop done this weekend, new birthday banners and gift card/note cards.

It has been a busy week, we listed our house so keeping it clean to show with 2 boys is always a challenge. They have been super helpful, I am very proud. I guess it just goes to show how much they want to move by their school.

Remainder of the weekend will be quiet  - chilling with coffee and Downton Abbey.

Cheers!

Couple new cooks in the kitchen

For quite some time the boys have been fascinated with cooking. As a family I think we have watched every episode of Diners, Drive Ins & Dives. Cutthroat kitchen is another favorite.

So for Christmas this year Trev received his first cookbook - The One Pot Bible - the plan is to make a new recipe every weekend.

This past weekend the menu consisted of Honey Garlic Ribs, or at least it should have, you see Mom (me)  forgot to actually look at the book to determine the amount of time required to make this recipe, yup, 8 hours!!!  I read this at 5 p.m.  On to the next plan - oven ribs.
Trevor did a wonderful job and they were the tastiest ribs ever. It's crazy how great food tastes when someone else cooks for you :)

The next morning Brendan helped me make a huge pot of chili - it is so much fun to watch the boys take such an interest in cooking. Definitely something I want to be sure to encourage.

Happy New Year - here's to a wonderful 2014

Happy New Year to everyone

This year is going to be a very busy but productive year!  We have so many firsts upon the horizon and I can't wait to see how they all pan out.

 - Brendan - will be in his first competitive gymnastics competitions, I can't get over how far he has come in such a short time.

- Getting ready for Tracys (my sister) wedding. Dress shopping, venue hunting  (in Hawaii), etc

- Our first serious road trip. We have been on a quite a few one interstate roadtrips but this one will prove to be our next big adventure.

- Of course my Etsy shop - I will be putting a lot more time and effort into the shop this year, intending on a very busy shop :)

I hope everyone else is as excited as I am over the start of this new year, can't wait to see how it all plays out!!

Cheers

Why I love Etsy

It is always so much fun to give a gift that is unique.
My bil is a huge Game of Thrones fan -  so when I came across these beer coasters they were a definite must have!

They were a set of 5 coasters - each with a different family name. They were a huge hit with my bil. The quality was superb and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
It is so much fun to find these great finds on Etsy.

For these coasters you can find them here:

The deck is complete - bring on summer!!

With all the rain we had in May it has been a difficult task for our contractor to finish the deck. What was supposed to be a week long job done, with plenty of time before dh's birthday, tuned into a 5 or 6 week affair.
That's all the grumbling I have because I am so happy with how it turned out! We had our first family bbq, where I attempted to blow myself up with the bbq (different story for a different time), and nobody fell through the rotten boards because they are no longer rotten!!!!!

I am looking forward to many, many, family bbq's.

Well the baking didn't happen as planned

I had mentioned in a previous post that the kids and I would be doing some baking this week...well it was a goal but we didn't quite get there.
With dh's birthday - kids birthday parties, sleepovers, and family dinners we just weren't able to fit it in.

We had a very low key celebration for Dad as he requested we wait until the deck is finished ( just put the stain on today so just a few more days, it has been a long month of construction) but we did get a birthday cake and the kids gave Dad his badminton set.

Crazy kids & Dad

The party for Dad is this weekend so we should have a few more pics, and even some of the deck.

I also finished off a few more sets of Cupcake toppers for my Etsy shop - perfect for 30th, 40th, 50th or 60th party celebrations.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Otherwise just spending a low key evening watching hockey.

The kids are cooking

The boys have been so interested lately in cooking. I think it's awesome that they want to learn.
Tonight it was Chicken Ceasar salad. They were actually arguing regarding who's turn it was to cook with Mom.
We are trying very hard to get away from processed food so this week I will put together a list of baked goods that they can help with. The only problem with baking in our house is that as soon as it's ready it's pretty much GONE! :)

This week I think we will attempt english muffins for breakfast

and Blueberry Yogurt cookies

They both sound great!!

What is a great item you like to cook with the kids?

Cheers

Halloween update - just a few days late, lol

Hi all,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. Ours was great! It was a little (a lot) wet but the kids were troppers and I don't even think they noticed :)
We did see only 1/2 of the usual number of kids, not many of the small ones. I think the parents of little kids that wouldn't have the complaints of missing Halloween didn't mind staying in and staying dry.

I have been busying putting together some new items for my shop - Christmas Gift card holders. I have added 9 new designs, below are just a few of my favorites. You can see all in the shop.

I will be a little quiet this next week with new designs as I am heading to Las Vegas for a conference. I am looking forward to the warmer temperatures, that is if I make it outside at all :)

Have a safe and happy Monday!!

Time to put the dream in action??

At what point in life is it time to say the dream should die? As a Mom of two and a wife I can't decide if I should be selfish and make the leap and head back to school. I have always regretted that I did not get a college degree and was often heard saying that before I die I want a degree. Is it too late now??
This is the question I am pondering at the moment, I will definitely update if I ever come to an answer.

Thanksgiving layout

I am super proud of myself - pats on back - I put a list together of some projects I wanted to complete and in which order and I have been super successful so far scratching them off.
What did I scratch off today?, my first Thanksgiving layout for this year. I have put this together to add to the Etsy shop, my goal is to get my listings up to 100 and to try to add something new each day or at least every other day.
Here is todays addition:

Nothing much going on today - watched the ball game but honestly now that the Cardinals are out I don't know who I want to cheer for - do you have a favorite?

Cheers,
Kristine

What a day!!

After many months of procrastination I finally made my way to see a Dermatologist to find out what the bump on my nose was.  I think I always knew deep down but I did receive confirmation that it was skin cancer!! UGH! It is not life threatening but it is still that ugly "C" word!!
Not much more to say for now :(

Cheers!

Hi all,
It has been quite some time since I have put together a blog post.
I realized earlier this week that I truly missed getting my thoughts down in this manner so I am again going to put together a post daily.
Since last in the blogosphere there have been many changes with the KriskropMemories Etsy shop. We have brought on a new line of party supplies (paper straws) and have been working really hard to increase the number of ready to ship cupcake toppers, gift card holders, scrapbook pages, etc.
I would love it if you took a look and let me know your thoughts.

Here are some pics of the newly added items:

Off to create more - hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Cheers

A couple new additions to the shop

It has been a crazy busy week and the next few days don't appear to be much slower. I have a feeling that between now and Christmas there won't be any slow weeks.
The pumpkins will be carved tomorrow and the candy is ready so all is looking good for Halloween.

I did find time to put together a few more pieces for the shop. I would love your feedback.

Baby Boy Shower - cupcake toppers

I also found some patterned cardstock to make cupcake wrappers with, these I think are perfect to coordinate with the turkey cupcake toppers. Great for Thanksgiving.

We are off to watch a local hockey game tonight, the boys are really excited, especially the youngest as this is his first game.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanksgiving layout finished

It did take a few days longer than I had expected but I have put together the Thanksgiving 2011 layout I have been working on.

Holy pumpkin

The plan was to go pumpkin hunting at the patch today, unfortunately the weather had a different idea. It was pouring today!  Hoping tomorrow will be a little better, as much as I love the pumpkin patch not feeling the mud!
I have been searching the web for pumpkin carving ideas and came across this pumpkin

This is so cool. We are planning on 8 pumpkins this year, I am thinking 4 carved and 4 like above.

I found this picture and idea at http://www.curbly.com/  - they have some fantastic Halloween ideas to check out.

Thanksgiving projects

I had a wonderful day today. Met with the boys teachers today (had to be done during regular school hours since the teachers are on work to rule so I took the day off work) and found that they are doing awesome. Trev had his first "real" test of the year in math and got 21/22, totally impressed :)

I was able to find some extra time to get to work on some Thanksgiving projects I have been wanting to do for the shop. Everything is cut and ready to assemble so with any luck I will be ready to have these added to the shop on Friday.

Not much more going on, just a nice relaxing middle of the week day :)
Tomorrow however is Spooktacular (fun family Halloween party) so I am ready to see what fun all the kids have managed to put together, I love Halloween.

Cheers

Soccer, Frogs, and Love bugs

Well we lost track of time and didn't get our little guy signed up for soccer this summer. After many requests from him we finally signed him up today. I have never been a fan of soccer, I am a hockey girl, so the idea of going out in the rain and cold wasn't really appealing. I decided to be a better Mom and get over this. I am though debating this decision now after finding out his games are on Saturday at 9 a.m., ugh, so rain, cold, and no sleeping in on Saturday morning.

Found some time today to finish a few projects I have been working on. The first is a frog cupcake topper set, fun colors and great for that person that loves frogs, the second is a diecut set perfect for scrapbook pages titled Love Bug.

I plan to have these listed in the shop tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!
